The brief.
In this group pair project, We were tasked with exploring Augmented Reality (AR) and video prototyping to design user interactions for smart glasses.
We asked ourselves...
How can we create AR experiences for smart glasses that feel natural and enhance user tasks, without overwhelming users with information overload or clunky interfaces?
Reserach.
During our project research, we uncovered several common technologies used in AR. Although not all of these technologies were implemented in our prototype, the exploration proved invaluable in generating ideas and concepts.
Location Services
GPS for real-world mapping.
Accelerometer and Gyroscope
Detects movement and orientation.
Camera
Captures the real-world environment.
For accurate depth sensing.
Advanced Algorithms
Processes data to create a detailed and realistic 3D representation.
AI & Computer vision
Uses computer vision to identify and track the drawn marker on the skin.
The Idea.
We decided to develop an AR app centered around pet care, equipped with features such as task management, exercise recommendations, training assistance, 3D media capture, and health insights.
The UI.
We drew inspiration from Apple's VisionOS design system and embraced a glassmorphism effect. This choice was made to ensure that the app seamlessly blends into the user's environment rather than disrupting it.
Development.
Within the project, I handled VFX, videography, and editing. I designed the UI in Figma, then animated it using Apple Motion. For filming, I used Omniscient to create a 3D map of the environment, which helped with motion tracking UI elements. Finally, I edited the footage in Final Cut Pro.
